“ These are just whispers. ” This is what we must tell ourselves when these thoughts torment us, when they relentlessly torture our minds and leave us feeling utterly defeated. In these moments of weakness, it is essential to remember that Satan seeks only to belittle us, to plunge us into despair and sadness, while Allah desires our well-being, our serenity, and our fulfillment.
These insidious whispers, known as waswas , can strike anyone at any time. They creep into our thoughts, sowing doubt and anxiety, and disturbing our inner peace. Sometimes, they make us question our faith, our actions, or even our own worth. Yet, their purpose is clear: to distance us from the peace that Allah promises to those who trust in Him.
It is important to understand that these whispers do not define our faith or our character. They are a trial, an inner struggle that many endure in silence. Recognizing their origin is already a step towards regaining control. Satan takes advantage of our moments of vulnerability to amplify our fears, our regrets, our past mistakes. But Allah, in His infinite mercy, constantly reminds us that every difficulty is accompanied by relief, and that every believer is capable of rising again.
I even dedicated an entire chapter to this topic in my Book of Reminders , because it seemed essential to me to address in depth this inner struggle that many experience in silence. This chapter is an invitation to understand, to put things into perspective, and above all, to never feel alone in the face of these invisible trials.
It is important to remember that we are not alone in these moments of inner darkness. Allah is always there, close, attentive, and full of mercy. He is the One who hears stifled sighs, thoughts we dare not speak aloud, and tears shed in silence. And through supplication (du'as) and seeking forgiveness (istighfar) , He offers us protection, refuge, and relief.
With affection and kindness ,
